Sasha wants to go space flying with her friend Zeke but Sandor is worried about her safety and refuses. In her anger Sasha tosses away her broach and does the “you’re not my real dad” bit before storming off to cry in her room. Meanwhile, Derek gets to call in, obviously not aware that Alex disappeared and Sasha grew years in a short amount of time. Back on “the rock”, a distressed Sandor goes on a space walk to think…but didn’t we see earlier than Sasha didn’t get to the suit checks?
What they got right: The drama with Sasha is done well. She’s worried about her accelerated aging possibly not stopping, but Sandor is convinced she’ll be fine like her mother and worried about her safety in space. Both have a concern but they really aren’t listening to each other.
What they got wrong: I’m not sure why they bothered flashing back to when the Cosmo DNA was first used to restore the planet, and the scene with Derek just seems to be there to remind us of his and Nova’s relationship and to tell us robot ships are being armed with wave motion guns.
What I think overall: It’s an okay middle part. I’m withholding judgement until next issue with the final part of this story to see how it all works out.
