Knuckles and Archimedes try to escape the controlled Chaotix but Enerjak manages to knock them out at a distance with his powers. Taken before his ancestor, the pair manage to escape him and give the other fire-ants time to attack his fortress so the heroes can escape. However, someone else slapped rockets onto the thing and sent it into space…namely Knuckles’ dad, who is secretly watching his son!
What they got right: The main story is wrapped up well, with new mysteries for further Knuckles adventures.
What they got wrong: Did we need yet another flashback to the same history of Enerjak? I know each comic is someone’s first but this is the final issue of a three issue miniseries. I think we have it by now.
What I think overall: As a miniseries the story is just kind of average. In hindsight it feels like Penders is setting up his take on Knuckles, which would just spell trouble later on when he gets a burr up his butt and demands the characters and concepts he created when he leaves Archie and ruined their Sonic series. Unless you’re really into Knuckles and his Chaotix friends it’s not a must-own story really.
