Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at a time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Well, this is either the penultimate or final installment of our look at TekWar. I do these intros before I read the book for authenticity when I ask what’s going to happen next, and last time I read two chapters because one flowed into another so well. If the same happens here, I hope you enjoyed the book. If not, I hope you’re enjoying the book and we’ll finish next time. You’ll know what we’re doing by the article title of course.

So, we’ve lost a hero and misused a villain. Not the best way to end the story. Maybe if less time was focused on how in the future the story is the villain might be better utilized. At least it’s been overall enjoyable but now that we’re near the end I can’t pad out these intros as well anymore so let’s just get into the book.

I probably would go ahead and read the last one but I had a colonoscopy today and I’m still partly asleep so I’m not pushing my luck if I want this coherent and getting tomorrow’s comic review done. I’ll spare you further details because I don’t want to lose all the new subscribers. Hi, folks!

Back in chapter 29 Bethdroid mentioned a place Beth liked to go to getaway, a cabin on the Moon. Jake realizes that’s probably where she’s gone now, so nice bit of detailing by Shatner and/or Goulart. It helps wrap up one particular part of this case. However, Winterguild took being punched out personally, even though he deserved it, and wants to get Jake’s parole revoked. Winger is back in the story to start the preliminaries but Gomez, still not at 100% but still 100% Gomez, manages to get him out of it, and using his contacts (and a borrowed advertisement covered spaceship) prepares to take Jake to the moon.

Like I said, being half asleep is the only reason I don’t just finish the book right here. Not a lot happens but it is fun watching Gomez mess with Winger and how our duo gets to space. I kind of wish he had been in the book more but it would have taken away from Jake and Beth(droid)’s story so it’s for the best overall. I hope they got to do more together in one of the sequels.

Next time is definitely the end…because there’s only one chapter left. Is Jake right or is there going to be more detective work involved to find her, and how will they keep her away from Winterguild? The answers in our final Chapter By Chapter review of TekWar!
