Morning Article Link: For Nerd Culture In 2016

Fanboy #3

Right now nerd culture appears to be at an all-time high. Look at the trouble Disney went to in order to get more of nerd dollars, buying both Marvel and Lucasfilm. And yet, as we go into the new year, maybe we need to check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. Cracked contributor JF Sargent looks into 6 things the nerds of 2015 need to do in order to make it through 2016. I would especially point to the second to last. It’s a pet peeve of mine as of late.

Sick again

You remember my talking about how those tests were causing me grief? Well it’s still going on and my digestive system still isn’t regular. Instead it’s wiping me out. I’ll spare you the grosser details. I hope to be back in action in a few days. If you see new posts I’m back to normal. The next article will be the next installment of Chapter By Chapter. Now I’m going to see how long it takes before I have to go back to bed. I’m really sorry to keep doing this, folks.

BW’s Morning Article Link: A History Of Robin

BTAB Robin 1

New people come to comics all of the time, and may know of one Robin, Dick Grayson. Unless they’ve seen The New Batman Adventures or Young Justice, then they may know of Tim Drake, or the animated movie adaptations, where they first heard of Jason Todd or even Carrie. With an event centered around Robins (this being modern DC of course they’re fighting like Marvel characters), Comic Book Resources gives a quick history of the Boy (and Girl) Wonders.

Jake & Leon #274: Meet The Boyfriend

That's how it worked for me.

That’s how it worked for me.

And yes, I do feel bad that Jeanine didn’t get a real introduction. She was a last-minute concept and I didn’t have a personality for her because of it. The next time she shows up in this comic (if there is one) I hope to have something in mind for her. If you click on the comic, however, you will learn more about Kevin’s creation, which this comic references. Next week we’ll see how things are back in the studio.

This has not been a good week for productivity and it ticks me off. This is a month that has been taken over by doctors and other distractions. I’ve taken some tests to find out why I have more diarrhea than your average Crohn’s sufferer at my level of suffering and they seem to have done more harm that whatever’s wrong. I found myself sick most of this week and even out of it today, which pushed back the Christmas stuff even further than the tests alone. I still hope to have the comic done by the end of the year but with so few days left it may bleed into 2016. One thing I’m tired of is getting things done just to get them done. That leads to poor quality and stress taking the fun out of doing these projects. I still have a lot of organizing to do.

The daily comic reviews return this week as do articles. Enjoy. That’s all I have left. The Clutter Reports will resume after the new year with some rather big projects depending on whether or not I get access to the table I need.

I know this one is late, but it’s been a very busy month, keeping me off of various projects, like this review and the Captain Yuletide comic I’m hoping to have done before 2015 is at least. However, this year’s Christmas Video Review is up as I take a look at Rankin/Bass’s Christmas classic.

Driving Home For Christmas

I didn’t find the video I wanted. The best I could do was a boring video of somebody driving on a snowy day. Enjoy the song, though. Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas is one of my newer favorites. I wish there could be more new Christmas classics but too many artists want to hold a Christmas song all to themselves. I think Mary Did You Know is the only one in recent history.
