“Fury From Beyond” WRITER: Danny Fingeroth PENCILER: Mike Manley INKER: Ricardo Villagran COLORISTS: Joe Rosas & Kevin Tinsley LETTERER: Joe Rosen EDITOR: Howard MackieIt’s time for the last of the Convergence podcasts looking into the past. This time Greg Rucka joins Dan Didio and CBR’s Jeffery Renaud to look at the last old decade of the pre-52, the 2000s. As you should guess, I’m not a huge fan of this period. Stuff that would be regular in the New 52 may or may not have started before this period but this is when all the grimdark stuff really started taking hold, cities (and little girls) were blown to kingdom come (not to be confused with Kingdom Come), and secret identities were slowly shoved aside.

Superman #75 (second printing)
DC Comics (January, 1993)
“Doomsday!” WRITER/ARTIST: Dan Jurgens FINISHES: Brett Breeding COLORIST: Glenn Whitmore LETTERER: John Costanza ASSISTANT EDITOR: Jennifer Frank EDITOR: Mike CarlinYes, I spelled “despair” wrong on the comic page. I fought to make deadline, which I didn’t for The Clutter Reports this week. But as you saw from last night’s bonus article (or if you missed it because it was late and just after a video posting, here it is) my review of FCBD was one of disappointment. I guess Jake’s didn’t go so well, either.
We’ve finally gotten there, folks. Tonight it’s the review of Superman’s death. Thursday we finish Transformers: The Movie and all the Marvel-produced Transformers stories. Next week begins Dreamwave’s run and I have a special set-up for that. Meanwhile Saturday will feature the last Amalgam comic I own, which means the last chapter of the Access trilogy is coming before we’re all done with the crossovers unless something else pops up somewhere.
On the article side the last of the Convergence podcasts is coming up followed by a more detailed rant as to why the Divergence preview bothered me so much (after I look into this event a bit more). I don’t know what else is coming but I have a eulogy to finish writing and I need to start making that a priority. On a more positive note, I DID get my press pass to ConnectiCon 2015 so I have to start getting ready for that as well. Hope to see some of you there, although they’re up against San Diego Comic Con again. But we have Star Trek and new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actors coming this year, so I think we’ll be all right.

I love Free Comic Book Day. I really do. It’s a good way to check out comics you otherwise wouldn’t risk the money for. However, when scaplers grab as much free comics as they can sneak off with and comic stores aren’t prepared for even the new legit ones I miss out on comics I really wanted to check out. (I went over those on Thursday.) No Transformers. No Ty Lee. No Jurassic Strike Force. Instead I only picked up four comics: Doctor Who, Divergent, Secret Wars, Avengers, and mistakenly picked up a leftover Infinity preview, being too disappointed to really pay attention.
That would have been okay if the comics had been good. Through the power of reposting Twitter (under #BW_FCBD ) share in my misery.
