Later tonight I’ll post my reviews of Free Comic Book Day (or you can check Twitter under the hashtag #BW_FCBD but here’s the video I shot at Legends Of Superheroes in Middlebury, Connecticut. It features interviews with “Cosplay On A Budget” (and in hindsight I should have asked him about the convention he was promoting as well) and making his BW return, comic creator Billy Tucci.
Spider-Boy Team-Up
Amalgam (Marvel; June, 1997)
“Too Many Heroes..Too Little Time!” WRITER: R.K. Sternsel PENCILER: Ladronn INKER: Juan Vlasco COLORIST: Joe Rosas SEPARATIONS: Digital Chameleon LETTERER: Bill Oakley EDITOR: Ralph FelderWhen He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe first hit television, a promotional VHS tape was put out by Filmation called “The Greatest Adventures Of All, a compilation of the first few episodes. Nowadays you can get full seasons on DVD or Blu-Ray but back then the home video market was still in it’s infancy. To connect the episodes original footage of the Sorceress introducing them were created (kind of like the early Bugs Bunny movies). James Eatock, of the official He-Man YouTube Channel, brings us those wraparounds. You can always go to Hulu and see the episodes, maybe freeze this video and go watch the episodes, if you want to emulate the experience.
Star Wars #1
Blackthorne Publishing (December, 1987)
WRITER: Len Wein ARTIST: Glen Johnson & Jim Nelson LETTERER: Jim NelsonAs much as I love Wolverine abuse, there’s another reason I posted this scene. Cracked‘s Auntie Meme (who should just be officially hired at this point) has put together another all-Auntie Photoplasty. The subject? Showing how some of the most iconic moments in media were the result of a necessary ad-lib. That includes the famous Vulcan nerve pinch.
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace
Dark Horse (May, 1999)
STORY: George Lucas ADAPTATION: Henry Gilroy PENCILER: Rodolfo Damaggio INKER: Al Wiliamson COLORIST: Dave Nestelle SEPARATIONS: Harold MacKinnon COVER ART: Ravenwood LETTERER: Steve Dutro DESIGNER: Mark Cox EDITOR: David LandThis Saturday is that time again, when special free comics drawn fans to comic stores in the hopes that they will buy other comics as well. (Remember, the comic stores pay for these FCBD comics even if you don’t.) As usual I’ll be dropping by Legend Of Superheros, where Billy Tucci will return as well as Felix Velez from “Cosplay On A Budget”. He’s bringing a TARDIS, I’m bringing my camera, and fun will be had by all.
But I’m not just going to record stuff. Since I’m still without income I haven’t read a new comic all year so even as samplers it will be nice to see what comics are doing. It would be nice if I had money coming in to buy new comics. Plus new comic reviews boost my stats so it’s a win for everyone. 🙂
Thus I have a few comics I’m hoping to pick up. Here’s all the comics coming this year, and below the ones I hope are still around to pick up.
