Man Of Steel had a lot of problems. One of them was how dark the coloring was. “Superman”‘s outfit is usually really dark, part of the attempt to turn Superman into Batman. A group called VideoLab decided to mess with that, taking a few scenes from the movie and giving them a much-needed recolor.
I hope you have time to read 10 pages of an article. Cracked.com has collected 40 of their favorite Easter Eggs from various lists and “Photoplasty” articles. Topics cover pretty much every media genre they can. Television, movies, comics, video games, novels, music…pretty much everything we cover here at the Spotlight is represented, as well as website eggs. The only problem is they didn’t check to make sure every video and link they use is still in existence. So there’s some bonus investigating for you.

It’s time again for Comic Book Resources’ look at DC history due to the Convergence event. This time it’s Dan Jurgens joining Dan DiDio and props to host Jeffrey Renaud for keeping the Dans straight so everybody knew which Dan was being asked a question. On the hot seat is characters versus events (versus eventitis as they continue to defend their illness), spoilers, and change. Events include the death and return of Superman and Zero Hour, but surprisingly little is said about Batman’s back being broken. My theory is that Jurgens was on the Superman titles, but not a lot was said about his creation, Booster Gold, before jumping into the 90s. (Yes, Booster debuted in the 80s but his creator is right there.)
Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm
DC Comics/Warner Brothers (1993)
ADAPTATION: Kelley Puckett PENCILER: Mike Parobeck INKER: Rick Burchett COLORIST: Rick Taylor COVER ART: Bruce Timm ART DIRECTOR: Robbin Brosterman LETTERER: Tim Harkins DESIGN: Brian Pierce ASSISTANT EDITOR: Darren Vincenzo EDITOR: Scott PetersonThis adaptation is a mini-comic, larger by mini-comic standards, adapting the theatrical movie based on the animated series. It was packed in with my old VHS copy of the movie. I could have done this as a Free Comic Inside article because of that but there’s not enough here for a long article for me to discuss since I plan to do a Video Review of the movie someday. As such, this isn’t a full review but sort of a highlights.

A long time ago we looked at Teen Boat, a comic that promised the “angst of being a teen, the thrill of being a boat”. Well, it delivered and it was enough for creators Dave Roman and John Green to return to the water with the follow-up, The Race For Boatlantis. Comics Alliance‘s Janelle Asselin interviews the writer and artist team about Teen Boat’s latest adventure.
