Batman Mask Of The Phantasm adaptation

They told Bruce he needed a hobby. Naturally, he took that to extremes, too.

This adaptation is a mini-comic, larger by mini-comic standards, adapting the theatrical movie based on the animated series. It was packed in with my old VHS copy of the movie. I could have done this as a Free Comic Inside article because of that but there’s not enough here for a long article for me to discuss since I plan to do a Video Review of the movie someday. As such, this isn’t a full review but sort of a highlights.

Morning Article Link: Teen Boat Sails Again

Teen Boat cover

A long time ago we looked at Teen Boat, a comic that promised the “angst of being a teen, the thrill of being a boat”. Well, it delivered and it was enough for creators Dave Roman and John Green to return to the water with the follow-up, The Race For Boatlantis. Comics Alliance‘s Janelle Asselin interviews the writer and artist team about Teen Boat’s latest adventure.

Jake & Leon #244: Because I’m Nightwing

If it wasn't for the DC Animated videos he wouldn't be anywhere.

If it wasn’t for the DC Animated videos he wouldn’t be anywhere.

I see why How It Should Have Ended loves doing the Superhero Cafe bit. It’s a good place for superheroes to talk.

But yeah, 75 years, beginning with Detective Comics #38, and not a peep from DC since they’re focusing on Convergence. Apparently they can’t divide their attention to a character who hasn’t had a live-action appearance since Joel Schumacher. If it wasn’t for cartoons, video games, and the old TV series (because sadly not enough people care about old movie serials) only comic fans would know who he is, and that’s just not right. He doesn’t even have his superhero identity except in the trapped histories of Convergence right now. Nice failure, DC Comics, as well as the rest of the comics media. I know I’ve been out of the loop with funeral plans and other events but I haven’t seen a single Robin tribute by anybody, which is why I was only just reminded of this anniversary. That’s just wrong, man.

Not really any announcements this week. Armageddon: Inferno ends on Monday. I suppose there’s Star Wars Wednesday where I’m going into a pattern. The midnight review will feature comics based on the Prequels while the noon showing will go over the few original time period comics. Whomever ends first will get into comics taking place before those events, as Dark Horse loved exploring the pre-movie Old Republic. Hopefully by then I’ll have income and can pick up The Star Wars, the miniseries based on the original concept for the series. I’m also hoping to be able to talk about more than dusting for The Clutter Reports next week.

Saturday Night Showcase: The Movies DOUG Disagrees With You On

Doug N Me

Two of my most popular BW Panelling episodes is Doug Walker’s “Movies Everyone Disagrees With You On” panels from ConnectiCon 2013 & 2014. So when these older postings popped up on YouTube as he counted down his top 10 movies he hates that everyone likes and top 10 movies he likes that everyone hates, I though it would be interesting to see what movies HE disagrees with the public on. Plus my next video won’t be edited by post time.

This is the boxer our Master Of Ceremonies has chosen for the “Thunder” tournament, leading to the theme that the fight has to reference severe weather. Here at BW Media Spotlight, we like to take things a bit further when we can. Why reference severe weather when you can beat it up? Namely, a tornado!
