The first story in the episode is a Christmas story where they have to teach a present-loving reindeer baby that it’s better to give at Christmas. The second one is just set in winter but it’s a Disney Junior show. They prefer having two stories an episode.

I would have had a comic this week but for some reason today the laptop is giving me issues. After I had to do a forced shut down because things weren’t working right, and that was after yet another crash, now Windows won’t finish booting up. I’m really starting to think I wasted money on this thing and it can’t actually run Windows 10. Now it’s too close to post time to get it done even on the regular desktop, which can be set up for art but isn’t in my cozy art corner. (And I just picked up a set of battery-powered speakers at a Goodwill with the speaker not working.) So I don’t know what I’m going to do comic wise otherwise. In hindsight I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t get started on Captain Yuletide this year because I might not be able to finish it. I don’t know if I even have an “artputer” anymore unless I break out the old XP laptop, which at least still has a version of Clip Studio on there and will hopefully boot up. We’ll have to see what happens.
As for this week I’ll just be posting a set of Christmas specials. No comic review, no quick videos, and no commentaries. It’s almost Christmas so I’m going to give myself a bit of a break. It also looks like I may not get the Christmas special review done I wanted because I just haven’t had the drive this year. 2021 has been a nightmare in this house and getting the energy to get things done has been difficult with all the sick time and now this nonsense with the laptop. I don’t know if I’m disappointing any of you but I’m disappointed in myself this year, and only part of it is my fault. So much of it was beyond my control but it ticks me off nonetheless.
At any rate, have a good week and a Merry Christmas. I haven’t decided if I’m going to take the week after Christmas off or not but we will resume with the Chapter By Chapter review of Star Trek: Prime Directive, the comic reviews, feature articles, and the daily quick posts when I return.

The Ghost And Molly McGee is a 2021 Disney Channel series. The show follows Molly, a girl whose family has moved from place to place but has finally decided to settle down in the town of Brighton. Unfortunately their home has a ghost living in it, a lazy hermit named Scratch. Unfortunately for Scratch that is, because Molly is a modern Disney TV show character so she’s all bright smiles and totally happy to have a new ghost friend, whether he likes it or not. I watched the first episode and found it cute but not really something I could add to my current load of things I have yet to watch.
However, tonight is special because it’s becoming rare to see a modern holiday episode that actually refers to anything other than “the holidays” even when Christmas is the only holiday on display. However, this episode features two stories featuring Hanukkah and Christmas, and both are properly named. The first has Molly and her family discovering the traditions of Hanukkah while Scratch discovers the food of Hanukkah. It’s actually a nice mirror to the Festival Of Lights. The second doesn’t follow that up with Christmas tradition examinations but does try to get the local rich guy to help fund the Brighton Snowflake Festival (Molly’s first) when it all goes wrong using the old Scrooge formula…which of course doesn’t go as planned but somehow works out because this is Christmas comedy. So enjoy while Disney leaves it up on their YouTube channel, and all next week will be more Christmas specials leading up to Christmas day.

It’s that time of that time of the year again. Time for me to dig into YouTube and find some of the amazing Christmas displays around the world. It’s my chance to celebrate the creativity (which of course requires more money, patience, and tech knowledge than I have) of Christmas displays that aren’t just lights on an exterior wall. They’re set to music, use projection mapping to turn the side of the house into a movie screen, and are just fun to watch. Some even use their display to gain donations for charity…or just to pay for the lights. The electric bill must be huge on these.
And of course I like to end the year with a big professional display on the side of a major landmark that tells a really cool story. These are usually for events that people come out to see…and given 2021 has been only slightly more active than 2020 we could certainly use it. The Christmas event in my town was very truncated and the time I usually get there after the parade the whole thing was over. At least we had one this year. So I need these more this year than usual. Let’s see what the YouTube fairy brought us this time.
