BW’s Daily Video: Family Matters’ Two Harriettes

Special bonus video: what happened to Judy Winslow? This one has a little swearing in it.

Catch more Vee Infuso on his YouTube channel.

I think he’s a bit hard on Steve Urkel. Yeah, the character maybe should have spun off into his own show the way Harriette was from Perfect Strangers but there is a reason fans still love him so much that poor Jaleel White had to go to voice acting for a few years to shake off the typcasting. (In fact I think that’s what the transformation machine was supposed to be, a chance for White to show off his other acting and comedy skills.) As far as the bit of Judy going upstairs and disappearing I thought that was a joke Foxworth made that somehow got mistaken as what actually happened.

Chapter By Chapter> Doctor Who: The Time Travelers chapter 3

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

It took surprisingly little time to get everyone back together. I’m used to arcs where the Doctor and his Companions may not see each other for whole episodes as they each get drawn into different parts of the threat of the week. I think even around this time the teams have been split up for longer. And while there are 13 chapters they’re rather long chapters.

Today we may find out why this 2006 is so different from the one we knew. Granted, the future seen in sci-fi shows of the 1960s have little resemblance to our world. It’s the nature of future stories. While Star Trek is praised for inspiring many advances in technology down to the cell phone (which was based on walkie-talkies and my cousin even had a set based on the communicators) some of the tech they used is rather primitive compared to what we have now and we still just barely started the 21st. I like how the book is playing with that idea, but we’ll see if it stays on course or just gets weird. It’s time for chapter three.

BW’s Daily Video: 10 Mistakes The MCU Made

Catch more WhatCulture Comics on their YouTube channel.

I especially agree with the secret identity argument. I don’t like how Tony’s identity was exposed in the comics but at least that one and maybe Captain America had some merit. The other heroes are terrible at keeping a secret identity, and that’s assuming they even try. Killing off villains is also a bad idea, starting at least as far back as Tim Burton’s Batman. Some of these villains could work in future stories and a few even fight multiple heroes. (Rhino for example is both a Hulk and Spider-Man villain if memory serves.) Why do you think the comics rarely kill a villain off?

Jake & Leon #460: Herodude & Enemies part 3

He even gave him the quip to drop in with. How kind.

Sorry I’m late tonight, folks. It’s a bit hot here in BW HQ and my hand kept getting sweaty. See, with digital art you wear a special glove that allows you to draw but reduces the surface tension so your hand glides over the table like it does on paper. But enough about that, you’re reading down here for updates.

In this week’s Clutter Report I reorganized my mini desk drawer. If you’ve been a BW reader, or watched some of my videos, there’s some interesting info there for you as well.

As for info here this week, I hope to do a Finally Watched, but it may not be the movie I was planning this week before a discussion topic finally came out of the entertainment world. I also would like to do the Art Of Storytelling I had planned. We’ll see how all that goes. Everything else is business as usual. Have a good week, everyone!

Saturday Night Showcase: Armored Fleet Dairugger XV

A couple of years ago I did a deep dive into the Voltron franchise, including posting episodes of Beast King GoLion, Voltron: Defender Of The Universe (both Lion seasons 1 & season 2 and Vehicle teams), the Fleet Of Doom movie, Voltron: The Third Dimension, and Voltron Force. (Unfortunately Legendary Defender‘s short-lived official post is long since removed and as of this writing I haven’t replaced the motion comic of the Devil’s Due run.) Only recently have I been able to fill in one of the gaps, with the official posting of the Voltron that wasn’t, Lightspeed Electroid Albegas, but still two other animes have alluded me. The Voltron that should have been, Future Robot Daltanious, still doesn’t seem to be available. Tonight however we fill one more hole in what became Vehicle Voltron, Armor Fleet Diarugger XV!

BanDai has created a YouTube channel called BanDai Spirits to host anime it’s releasing toys of and Diarugger happens to be one of their shows. This show follows a group of space explorers seeking new worlds for their overpopulated planets, but run into trouble when a highly territorial enemy shows up to block them. Their only hope are the Rugger Teams and their mighty robot Diarugger. Tonight I bring you the first episode, but make sure you turn on the closed captions unless you speak Japanese.

[UPDATE: 1/28/2021: For whatever reason Bandai Spirits opted to reupload them in clumps, so now it’s episodes 1 through 4. I only have the first episode of the Voltron Vehicle Team however because that would be too many videos.]

[UPDATE 10/16/2025: And now that’s gone as well, but I have this fan post for episode one…for however long it lasts.]
