ConnectiCon 2009 is all over, but I shall leave you tonight with a few videos. Where else will you see Duke Nukem on a unicycle or a courtroom made up of folks in costumes? (If you watch the third one in that set, you might catch a glimpse of me in the back before deciding I couldn’t see anything and went somewhere else. You also get to see the show stealer of ConnectiCon, Grey Shirt Guy.)

I couldn’t find any recordings of the Toy Collector and How To Make a Webcomic panels, but I’ll post those when and if I do. The Toy Collector panel was hosted by David Willis, the Shortpacked! cartoonist, and Carlos Ferro, the voice of Don Santiago in the Gears of War video game series. (Oddly, I didn’t go to any of the voice acting panels. At least missing the art panels I can blame on poor scheduling on my part.)

I caught the last half of the How To Make a Webcomic panel hosted by Brad Guigar of Evil Inc, and Kris Straub of Starslip Crisis. Both contribute to Webcomics.com, a webcoming tutorial site, and two of the contributors to the book How to Make Webcomics. I wish I had caught the first half, but maybe next year I’ll have my act together.

I also missed the Japanese Tea Ceremony panel, a FanFiction panel I didn’t know about, and ones on Japanese Folklore and Anime & Mythology, among others, but I’m not sure I would have been able to catch them all anyway. I only got up there a little before noon. It’s a bit of a drive from my Attic HQ to Hartford, and I don’t get up that early on the weekends to begin with.

That the winner for Best Comedy at the FMV (fan-made music video) competition. Although not actually a music video, I can still see how it won. Best Comedy was only one of a bunch of different categories. I didn’t see any of them. And here’s the winner for Best In Show with a tribute to Avatar: The Last Airbender, soon to be screwed up as a major motion picture by M. Night Sha…I’m not even going to try.

My last video tonight is an example from the Masquerade, which this year became the Joker’s Cabaret Show. The clip in question is a Kingdom Hearts skit, based on the video game that…well, if you know anything about Disney or Square/Enix, you probably already know what it is. It also won Best of Show for this event.

(That’s the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Two Face in the beginning.) One of the few skits I actually saw because (a) I didn’t know what it was until well after it started, (b) my feet were really hurting and there was no place to sit down, and (c) I attended a last minute added panel called Now You’re a Man II: Now Manlier Than Ever! Sponsored by The Nerdfit Network and hosted by Billy Mays, the Internet, and some guy who didn’t dress up, it was a comedic attempt to teach guys how to talk to women. Didn’t help me, but I’m a hard case. 🙂

And I think I’m done talking about ConnectiCon 2009. I will, however, change my mind and show one more video:

Any Naruto/Michael Jackson fan would go out on that one. 🙂
