Flashing back to before the last issue, Frog Thor arrives at Asgard and has a talk with God Thor, who tells him to find other mythical creatures to find kinship. Throg’s journey leads him to a yeti, just as he is being kidnapped into a realm full of mythical creatures. Too bad the leader wants them out, and is pushing them to the Earth along with a monster that could be bad news for the Pet Avengers.
What they got right: We finally get to see what happened to Frog Thor last issue, and it’s an interesting story. The art is in line with Guara’s best, especially the double-page shot of Asgard and the splash page intro of the monster.
What they got wrong: Why set this story before the last issue? I know that it’s the beginning of a new mini-series, so maybe they wanted to introduce the characters to anyone who missed the last one, but it’s still a bit off-putting.
Recommendation: If you’ve liked the other comics in the “Pet Avengers” series, here’s another way to convince other people we’re right in supporting it.
