Young Justice #15

DC Comics (June, 2012)

WRITERS: Kevin Hopps & Greg Weisman
ARTIST: Christopher Jones
COLORIST: Zac Atkinson
LETTERER: Dezi Sienty
EDITOR: Jim Chadwick

Orm, the self-proclaimed Ocean Master, has masterminded the xenophobic war in Atlantis as part of his plot to take over. However, Aqualad and his friends stand in his way and seek to rescue Queen Mera.

What they got right: I like how they brought together the different kind of sea citizens together with a decent racism story.

What they got wrong: Although nobody learns a lesson that racism is wrong. Also, the subplot from last issue returns, and it’s a set up for the TV episode “Homefront” that really wasn’t needed in this story.

Recommendation: It’s better than most of 52. It’s fun, action-packed, and still manages to be serious and all-ages. Series remains recommended.

There were some good moments, but only when the comic is taken as a whole. No Best Scene nomination.
