Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #16
IDW Publishing (November, 2012)
STORY: Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz SCRIPT: Tom Waltz ARTIST: Andy Kuhn COLORIST: Ronda pattison LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Bobby Curnow
The Turtles face a moral dilemma. On the one hand they don’t want to kill Slash, but on the other hand he’s more than willing to kill them. When only Leonardo is left standing, however, it may be a moot point, and the whole “slash monsters” incident will haunt Leo and Mike.
What they got right: Action is the forefront of the story and the fighting was well drawn. Add in the “human” drama of the brothers trying to decide how to deal with Slash if “lethally” isn’t a solution. It’s like all those debates on why comic heroes don’t kill.
What they got wrong: I might be able to find a stand-out moment for Best Scene, but that’s because the story works as a whole. There really isn’t anything to put here.
Recommendation: Another strong issue, worth picking up.
