Reprogramming three Autobot Headmasters into his service and buying Grimlock off with a new body, Scorponok launches his plan to take over Cybertron. Meanwhile, Hot Rod journeys into the planet to find Primus’s resting chamber and Optimus remains on Earth (even though they don’t want him there) to help rebuild. Also, Starscream and Galvatron come across Shockwave.
What they got right: Well, I do like the artwork.
What they got wrong: Okay, that’s four separate stories going on. Also, it seems like nobody at IDW want to write Optimus Prime because here’s another alternate universe where he gives up command of the Autobots. Only in the main IDW G1verse it made a bit more sense. And while I’m supposed to be shocked at Grimlock’s actions this is one of Furman’s pet characters so you know this is going to resolve with Grimlock doing something important to save the day and all is forgiven. I do wonder, though, why didn’t Scorponok use his own bots instead of reprogramming the Headmasters? And we still don’t know how Scorpy isn’t dead. I suppose Furman will come up with some excuse that further ties to his apparent dislike of the Head/Target/Powermaster idea because he always seemed to go out of his way to ignore it in the original Marvel US run.
Recommendation: It’s reading Furman’s Transformers stories that make me question being a sheep when it comes to Transformers stories. I can’t in any good sense recommend this book. It’s easily the worst of the IDW Transformers books.

this comic continuation is an insult to the original series,contradictions and plot holes gallore fill each issue,simon and his staff have failed big time in delivering the goods,each issue gets no better.and to think facebook has more than a thousand fans who think this comic is great,really.

Doesn’t seem all that different from Furman’s original Marvel US run to me. Which is of course the big problem.

the problem is that the transformers storyline is tapped out,only a rewritting of the whole transformers universe now exists and not too good .to me the comics ended in the 90s with g2.

I thought the regular Dreamwave comics, the ones written by Adam and Brad/James, were actually quite good. Also, Furman told a few good stories over there, as if someone kept him in check (although they didn’t give him the checks he earned like everybody else) and Devil’s Due G.I. Joe crossover was also very good.

well your right about one thing,the dreamwave comics were good, i completely forgot i still had all the issues,been a while since i seen them,but i did not care for the g.i. joe crossover from devil`s due,because of the way they made the characters look like cheap robots like the michael bay films,however the dreamwave g.i. joe cross over and the original marvel ones were good.

back in the days hasbro had marvel on the leash and in turn marvel had furman on their leash,now with idw the leash on furman is gone and furman has gone wild with his stories,from what i understand back in the old comic furman was called in to save the comic with bob stepping down,but in my view the comic needs saving from furman.also one thing this new comic does not have that marvel had was a letter`s page from fans,simon probably fears too much hate mail he will get.

To be fair few companies had a letters column these days. And if they do it is all praise of the work. None of the letters take issue with anything, which shows a bias there.
