In the past, Saki takes over the Foot Clan and becomes close to Kitsune. However, they will take great steps to become immortal. In the present Doctor Miller makes his choice and Michelangelo learns he has a new skill. Plus, our heroes decide some secrets are safest when burned.
What they got right: Finally, someone punches out the “science trumps morality” jackass. (See “Best Scene”.) Also they destroy the artifact that they don’t want in the wrong hands at the expense of learning why Shredder wants the book so badly. You don’t see that often enough, either. The Turtles being reincarnated humans is also addressed and Mikey learns he can understand Japanese. His comparison to his mindset playing video games actually makes sense when you read it and think about it. April makes good use of the cops, Splinter uses his own memories to his advantage, and we get an interesting addition to Shredder’s backstory and his history. All well done.
What they got wrong: So how do you decide who gets reincarnated and as what? I hope this is addressed in the future.
Recommendation: A great miniseries that adds a lot to the main title. Highly recommended to fans of IDW’s Turtleverse, recommended to casual Turtles fans.
