So we’re back to tournaments named for real boxers instead of fictional ones. Bobby “Boogaloo” Watts once beet Marvin Haggler, and even I’ve heard of that guy. But new tournament, new fight!
I like the different fights, the ones where brains beat brawn, but this time the brains ARE the brawn. If you’ve followed my retro reviews this week you already know what this will be.

“Boogaloo” round 1
The Battlefield: Justice League Of America #205 (DC Comics; August, 1982) “The Last Hand”
The Promoters: Gerry Conway (writer), Don Heck & Romeo Tanghal (artists), Carl Gafford (colorist), and Ben Oda (letterer)
If you’ll recall, Hector Hammond was projecting his mind into a hospital and slowly draining the mental energy from the Leaguers. One of those Leaguers, though, was Firestorm, and while Ronnie was down for the count for some reason Professor Stein wasn’t. And he wasn’t about to let the heroes die.
However, Hammond has been paralyzed in his jail cell for a long time and Martin’s been moving around. While he isn’t usually the physical type he has the edge on this one. Sure, it’s a fake body but at least he remembers how to use it.
The lesson in all this? Don’t #$@% with the Professor!
Head to Spacebooger.com by Sunday night and vote for your favorite Friday Night Fight! (Forum membership is NOT required to vote, only to comment.) Winners of these 12 rounds head for the Prize Fight, so feel free to join in. We could use the competition!
