Shredder and Krang reunite in neutral territory. Shredder hopes to form an alliance with Krang. Let’s just say this isn’t the classic TV show. Meanwhile, Kitsune makes contact with Alopex.
What they got right: You’d think an issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles minus the Turtles would be a bad thing, but I think even a brief cameo would have interfered with the story flow. Instead there’s only one diversion that will matter to the long term. I also like that they aren’t going to be best buddies like in the show. It makes their relationship here different and might lead to some interesting developments in the future as the Turtles are going to have to pick a side eventually for the sake of the world.
What they got wrong: I am happy to say there are no complaints that come to mind with this comic and I just read it a few hours ago before writing this review.
Recommendation: This might be a good point to jump on if you don’t mind that the title characters are absent. This and last issue with Rat King shows things are going to seriously heat up and the Turtles are going to be caught in the middle of more than one personal war, including their own.
