Classic Battlestar Galactica #3
Dynamite (2006)
WRITER: Rick Remender ARTIST: Carlos Rafael COLORIST: Carlos Lopez LETTERER: Bill Tortelini
Forced into hiding, the rebels are determined to attack the Cylons. Boomer volunteers to lead them as a cooler head. The way to salvation is across a bridge guarded by tanks. During the battle, Starbuck and Stadra commandeer one of the tanks, but it ends up in the water. Now Boomer tries to lead the rest of the group to a transport ship while Starbuck and Stadra try to swim to safety.
What they got right: The art is good, the story appealing. There was no shift to the Galactica, which would have only been there to remind us they still exist. Boomer gets a lot more to do here than his supporting role in the television show and he shines.
What they got wrong: The cliffhanger of the guy finding the bug planted on Boomer is resolved before the first page is over. It seems like the guy accusing Boomer of being a traitor was just to have a cliffhanger. I can think of a few better ways to pull that off.
Recommendation: Fans of the classic series should pick up this book. It’s a great story.
