Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #3
Dynamite (2007)
WRITER: Javier Grillo-Marxuach ARTIST (including selected cover) Carlos Rafael COLORIST: Carlos Lopez LETTERER: Bill Tortolini
Abbadon tries to get the infidel, Belial, to come up with the antidote to the nano-cybrid he created, but he refuses, believing the organic form is the proper future of Cylons. The Galactica launches an attack with the nano-cybrid, but Starbuck (who appears to be considering asking Casseopeia to marry him) is shot down and Apollo is forced to leave him behind.
What they got right: The dogfights feel like the show. That’s the majority of this comic. Seeing Starbuck grow as a character is nice to see as well.
What they got wrong: But are we really getting the stranded Starbuck story again? That’s two in a row. Everybody seems to love writing the stranded Starbuck story. I don’t care if it’s the only episode of Galactica: 1980 fans like, I’m tired of seeing it.
Recommendation: I’m still enjoying this comic. It’s worth checking out for Classic Galactica fans.
