DC may be finally getting their act together, but considering the people who caused the problem are doing it makes me wonder how long that will last? After all Marvel seems to have traded their “heroic age” for one very much less heroic. Heroes fighting each other at Marvel used to be the joke, not the rule. And of course, the original Captain America was turned into a Nazi…I mean Hydra agents after the Red Skull turned the Cosmic Cube into a little girl and tricked her into making Cap evil. Because comics.
You may remember my previous reviews of Star Power, the webcomic about a superhero in a Star Trek style world (which is similar to an idea I had, but only in concept so it’s not off the table for me just yet and proof that it can work). It’s a great comic and you really need to check it out. Currently it updates on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with blogs by the creators on Tuesday and Thursday. The writer, Michael Terracciano, talks about his problems with the current state of the big two superhero comic companies and encourages indie superhero comics. There’s a bit more cursing than you see here at the Spotlight but I’m totally with him on this.
