Bill Maher is a moron, and for once I’m not just saying that as a conservative. In a recent rant that deserves a longer response from me (hey, there’s no Friday Night Fight this week but I think this needs more than an article) the host of HBO’s Real Time made a rant about how superhero movies were damaging to American culture before going into a rant against President Donald Trump. He also showed he doesn’t understand what he’s talking about because he doesn’t even know Netflix isn’t a TV channel (except on certain cable systems, and that’s just to access a website) or who Iron Fist is. (He’s a martial arts superhero if you’re new around here.)
There are actually two articles I want to point out. First is from ICv2 contributor Steve Bennett defending the need for superheroes. The other is from The Mary Sue contributor Kalia Hale-Stern that was linked to in that article, showing kids in poses emulated by superheroes, a series of art pieces by Jason Ratliff. I should also point out that superhero comics and TV shows/movies are being worked on primarily by liberals like Maher, some of whom have worked that into their story to the detriment of their characters. (Mostly at Marvel, who have ruined perfectly good diverse characters by writing them poorly and calling you a bigot for not liking their writing.) Maher has pretty much attacked his own side to go after Trump. But like I said, it’s going to take more than an article to go into that.
