A few revelations come out of this article by Screen Crush’s Britt Hayes concerning Quentin Tarantino’s possible take on Star Trek. It may be rated R, and I’m getting tired of that somehow becoming a symbol of quality as if absolute garbage hasn’t had an R rating before. Patrick Stewart sees an opportunity to work with Tarantino and come back as Jean-Luc Picard, which I kind of understand. But then there’s a podcast clip they found that shows Tarantino talking about what he’d like to see Abrams Trek do, which is basically update and extend an existing episode…a story we have already seen and thanks to reruns, home video, and streaming we can see any time we want. What about telling NEW stories?

Also, shouldn’t the actors be allowed to put their own take on the characters instead of playing Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley as Tarantino claims in that clip? I’m not sure I like where this is headed and I haven’t even see the last two Abrams Trek movies, just the first one.
