With the JLA captured or soon captured, it looks like the Hyperclan may be close to succeeding. Flash and Green Lantern learn of a fleet of ships hiding in hyperspace. With the Justice League gone they plan to reveal their true identities and decimate the planet. However, A-Mortal is the only one who doesn’t underestimate Batman due to lacking powers. Not that it helps when Batman, who is still alive, invades their base with who they really are…Martians! He uses their weakness to fire against them but Protex just launches the invasion now!
What they got right: While Batman is overpowered (for someone without superpowers) at times, he’s about right here. Batman is able to out think his enemies, being the world’s greatest detective and all, so it makes sense that he figured out the Hyperclan are Martians. How they’re still around we’ll find out next issue. The fights are really good, and one showcases Kyle’s potential had writers been willing to work with it instead of mooning over Hal. While part of me would like to have seen Batman’s fight with A-Mortal, it does help the reveal that we don’t see it.
What they got wrong: However, I would have liked to have seen how Armek and Zenturion defeated Green Lantern and the Flash.
Recommendation: Still a good opening storyline. I think it concludes next issue but based on what I’ve seen thus far it’s worth looking into.
