It’s been awhile since we’ve looked in on John Blackstar and his friends on planet Sagar. For those of you who weren’t here for the Filmation tribute week, Blackstar is about an astronaut who ends up in another dimension and for reasons never explained ends up with half of the PowerStar, a mighty sword split into Blackstar’s Star Sword and the Power Sword (not He-Man’s) owned by the evil Overlord, ruler of the planet. Allying with the Trobbits and their allies Blackstar fights to free the world from Overlord’s grasp. The whole PowerStar thing is why Filmation changed He-Man’s Power Sword from the original Masters Of The Universe lore but a lot of this show filters into both He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe and She-Ra: Princess Of Power, so I don’t know why they bothered.

In tonight’s episode, Blackstar’s ally Mara seeks their help in freeing her friend Amber from Overlord’s mind control before she leads him to a scroll of ancient secrets Overlord can use to further his control over Sagar. Enjoy.

While not yet complete you can find more episodes on the Retro Heroes YouTube channel officially. Unlike some of his Filmation friends he doesn’t have his own channel that I can find yet.

A Filmation creation is always a pleasant viewing experience.

Sumaro, the guardian of the city of Tamborian, looks kind of like one of the Shogun Warriors (the robots). This makes me wonder if Filmation was inspired by the Shogun Warriors toys and comic books of the 1970s in creating this particular episode of Blackstar.
