With comics being the source material for many movies (especially superheroes but occasionally non-superhero comics get a movie, like Wanted or Men In Black) and with some theaters selling merchandise to offset the decline in ticket sales maybe it’s time for comics that are getting a movie to get sold in theaters? Building off of what’s in that article I think either a theater exclusive edition of a story important to the movie might work, and/or maybe team with a local comic store (who are having their own financial troubles thanks to reduced readership) to put out a selection of back issues with a pointer to the comic store to find more comics. That would be a good collaboration for both until we can get comics sold outside of comic stores again so people can find them. And a special edition comic may bring a comic collector in to get one and maybe they stay for a movie or buy a snack or drink on the way out. Something to think about.
