Pike’s looking pretty good for a guy who was irradiated a century ago.

On Romulas, Ambassador Spock picks up a psychic call for help from the Talosians. As he attempts to return to the Federation for help, Edam gets the same message and is compelled to go to Talos IV, the only death sentence in the Federation law books. Omega Squadron tries to stop him but when he gets control back he talks them into going with him, warning of thousands of deaths. They arrive and meet up with Christopher Pike, who tells the cadets that the Talosians are falling under some kind of plague while the planet is being invaded by the Jem’Hadar. It’s due to Edam still trying to unscramble what he saw in the Founder’s mind that he was drawn here…and learns that Talos is only the beginning as they plan to wipe out every telepathic race in the Federation!

What they got right: We get a nice scene with Matt dealing with his insecurities by beating up a holodeck version of himself until a hologram of Kamillah stops him. We get the Talosians, Pike, and Omega Squadron working together to take down the Jem’Hadar.

What they got wrong: As far as this story there really isn’t anything to complain about.

What I thought overall: This is a good start to the story arc and events here will lead into the Paramount Comics Star Trek crossover down the line. That makes it worth picking up as it is. And yes, Pike being here is explained later as I recall, which is why I only joked about it in the caption and not listing it as a “got wrong”.
