Well, the online reader isn’t fit for comics but at least the comiXology app’s changes are still readable…although now you have to download a comic to read it. Amazon really jumped the gun on this change and mess a lot of things up.
Scooby-Doo Team-Up #34

Velma and Daphne are summoned by the Birds Of Prey (Batgirl, Black Canary, and Huntress, with a brief cameo by Lady Blackhawk) when mythological birds start committing robberies in Gotham City. Scooby goes with them (because it’s his comic) while Freddy and Shaggy investigate a living doll that turns out to be Brother Power, The Geek, who makes instant friends with Shaggy. Following the clues and the birds leads Scooby and the ladies to the Penguin, and they foil his plans.
What they got right: I’m not against an all-girl team-up (probably won’t get one for the guys) and this is actually a good story. Velma and Batgirl work well together as does Black Canary and Daphne (still learning more from the Hong Kong book of Kung Fu than Hong Kong Phooey ever did), but poor Huntress gets the opposite of herself in Scooby. The boys do get to do something and Brother Power instantly connecting with Shaggy was a nice touch. Hopefully they get to team-up in a future story. The girls of Mystery Inc do contribute to the story.
What they got wrong: Although it’s questionable if they were needed even if this is more their type of mystery. Scooby is only here because it’s his comic and doesn’t get to contribute anything outside of the final fight where everyone gets to do something. So even the negatives on this one come with caveats.
What did I think overall: One of the better team-ups in the series.
