Araki’s father comes home and shows his displeasure for smoking and goofing around with Yu (not that way, fanshippers!), but Araki insists that he wants to have friends. That night the Lizard attacks the pharmaceutical company again and destroys the medicine in production. Araki thinks Spider-Man should go after the Lizard but after what happened with Electro Yu is hesitant to put the costume on again. They go to a scientist Yu knows, Professor Inmaru, to see if the Lizard could turn human as his last attack suggests, and he turns out to be the man attacked by giant lizards at the start of this storyline. Araki notices blood on the floor and Yu noted he looked pale but they don’t have time to think about it before the Lizard appears and kidnaps Araki. The Lizard then calls Araki’s father, demanding the notes on the medicine in exchange for not killing Araki. This leads Yu to once again become Spider-Man to save his friend.
What they got right: As motivation for Yu to suit up again, this is certainly good enough. The Lizard is shown to be a real threat.
What they got wrong: Okay, who doesn’t see the Lizard’s reveal coming up? Maybe in one shot where you don’t have enough time to think about it readers were surprised but it’s also obvious at this point why he did it. The foreshadowing is way too heavy on this one.
What did I think overall: It’s still a good story and hopefully the conclusion is satisfactory.
