The sad part is that there are areas of the world where these are legit jobs. Two of them in the US.
Depending on your point of view I’ve actually seen the second one on game shows, and the first is legal in one town in Nevada (oddly not Vegas I hear but some town just outside of it). I know, it’s an odd comic for just after Free Comic Book Day AND on Mother’s Day but it’s what I came up with.
I’ll do a full Free Comic Book Day report on Tuesday, since I do the book review on Monday. If you didn’t catch the live tweet reviews I was kind of disappointed. I didn’t get the Ninja Turtles or Disney comic and I think I should have gotten those when I had the chance instead of the two I did. A second comic store didn’t have a limit but they ran out by the time I got there. Still, as mentioned in this week’s Clutter Report, that first store may buy some of the comics I’m trying to get rid of or at least help me to get rid of them. So something good came out of it.
Meanwhile I did practice what I preached and at both stores I bought something. Most were older DC titles I wanted, but two were Robotech comics, one of which was also a DC comic. I’ll explain more about that when I’m done with the regular Robotech comics. The other one I picked up was from the Eternity run of Robotech II: The Sentinels, which I’ll review tomorrow. I also picked up an issue of Star Trek: The Next Generation that was tied to an issue I have so I picked that up as well. The DC books, holes I wanted filled in my collection, I’ll go over when I’m done with Scooby-Doo Team-Up, which I forgot to review yesterday but would anyone have cared during Free Comic Book Day? The live-tweet reviews were yesterday’s comic review. I also got to talk with a couple of artists at the first store, which I’ll go over in the FCBD wrap-up on Tuesday. No sense doing full reviews because they were all preview stories, only two of the comics I picked up even having a self-contained story.
So Happy Mother’s Day, and be good to your mother. Unless she’s a horrible person you’ll miss her when she’s gone. I know I do. Have a good week, everyone!
