Chris, Cream, and Cheese run from their possessed parents and the others possessed on the island, but Cheese is also possessed by the ghosts. They call Uncle Chuck for help, but Sonic and Tails are still in prison, where Eggman is biding his time reparing refrigerators and other appliances. The kids soon confront the head ghost, upset that his sleep was disturbed by the hourglass being taken to the island and disturbing their resting place, where there is now a tennis court. Chris’s dad manages to get Sonic and Tails released in time to reach the island as Chris and Cream make a deal to return the hourglass so the ghost can get go back to sleep. Seeing how close friends they are and that they may be safe with them, Vanilla decides she and her daughter can stay with the Thorndikes.

What they got right: We do get to see Chris and Cream work together and use both their heads and compassion to send the ghosts back to sleep. They’re not bad, just upset.

What they got wrong: However, it’s wrapped up a bit too quickly for the pacing. Apparently Chris’s dad has enough clout to get Sonic and Tails released even though they’re falsely accused of attacking the city. They show up at the last minute so they can get the hourglass back to its proper resting place before sundown. It’s like they didn’t have enough story for a part three but too much for two parts alone.

What I think overall: The comic is back to where it was, just not as good as I’d like it to be and not a good enough companion to the show, try as it might.
