I would have posted this in the daily quickpost but I forgot today was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I keep thinking it’s in February, during Black History Month. (That’s the shortest month of the year; make of that what you will.) I usually see stuff leading up to the day as reminders it’s coming, but this year? Nothing. It’s like even the civil rights movement wants to distance themselves from King’s message of judging by character, and not skin color, wanting to forget that when white boys and white girls join hands with black boys and black girls might means those boys and girls will start dating, marrying, and having kids with each other. I would love to see a day where King’s dream becomes a reality and skin color will be treated no different than hair and eye color. The only race that really exists is the human race.
This week’s Chapter By Chapter review will be posted tomorrow. I don’t want this speech to be forgotten so long as the goal hasn’t been achieved.
