Deep within the earth the Hulk still battles monsters, but this time it’s to feed the Moloids he now lives with. He’s finally managed to find peace by separating himself from Banner but he still can’t let himself relax because history shows when he relaxes something happens. So, something happens, but the robots he’s fighting were sent by US government agent Amanda Von Doom (I’ll get to that) because they need his help. Bruce is on an island going full High Evolutionary creating animal people, but his goal is to create a new Hulk!

What they got right: The art and monster designs are okay.

What they got wrong: You name a character Amanda Von Doom, then claim she’s not related to Doctor Doom? Sure, possibly, but did you just want a not-evil character named Von Doom? I checked with the Marvel wiki and this storyline is the only thing they mention her being part of. Some of the female Moloids…let’s just say their bodily proportions are a bit too human despite still having a Moloid face and I’ve never seen Moloids like that before, limited though my exposure is. I’m guessing the latest Banner/Hulk split of the period was explained somewhere but not here. It’s a number one, as meaningless as that is nowadays, so that might be a good idea.

What I think overall: There really isn’t much here outside of a concept. Hulk is split from Banner and finds a home with the Moloids (not sure what happened to Mole Man at this point). It’s all just setting up the story arc rather than doing anything on its own, clearly designed to be read with the rest of the arc in trade form. At that point just make a Hulk graphic novel and let the monthly story do its own thing but that ship sailed a long time ago.
