If I were to break it down to three top negatives in the manner of G4’s “Judgment Day,” they would have to be: not enough commentary on the state of English life/politics, a key aspect of many prior eras; too much borrowing from other successful sci-fi brands and not nearly enough of its own; and practically nothing from this era standing out enough to last in the public mind ala the Weeping Angels (notice we’re not all still humming “Dugga Doo” a year later).

On a related note, I finally realized the “racism” angle that RTD was trying to communicate with “Dot and Bubble,” but the delivery was way too weaksauce to support that reading in my eyes. Her institutional dickishness toward the Doctor at the end seems a bit more corporate than racist to me, and since that’s literally the only part of the episode that seems to matter in this nearly nonexistent conversation, that’s kinda disappointing.
