There was a news story around this time that Disney was taking commercials for “junk food” off of its network once their contract was up. The original concept for this strip was actually a bit more gruesome, with Mickey cornering the mascots in an alley ready to slaughter them. While I was in the shower this somewhat kinder and sillier idea came up. Luckily I had only penciled the second panel so it was easy to adjust the strip. I’ll sleep better tonight.
