Filler Video: You Think You Know MASK

I need a filler to get my posting schedule back on track, since I’ll have the weekends available to me again for awhile. So I grabbed something quick from the Comics Alliance YouTube channel. MASK was one of those 80s shows I really enjoyed. I’ve also reviewed the mini-comics for Free Comic Inside and plan to get to the regular comics once the Acclaim/Valiant universe ends this week. With IDW bringing the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (because poor literacy makes the acronym spell right…or something) this is a good time to revisit the group as part of CA’s “You Think You Know Cartoons” series.

BW’s Art Soundoff 2016 #6: This One’s For The Writers

Some of the other Art Soundoff participants have been posting about some of their favorite and inspirational artists, but I’ve always focused more on the writing side (which explains why I’m catching up on the drawing side). So for this Soundoff I thought I’d give the people who make the story artists draw and color the spotlight they deserve.

I kind of kick myself for not mentioning Gene Cohn, who wrote the best of the Masters Of The Universe minicomics, but I don’t know what else he’s done and it’s not the stuff I’d write as much as I enjoy reading them. Maybe if I do another list I’ll remember to include him.

Look at this guy. It’s like the 90s took a form. I would have preferred the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Chapter By Chapter> Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire ch. 28

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Chapter By Chapter Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire

So where were we at the end of the last chapter? Oh right, Xizor was using his race’s natural pheromones to essentially mind control and rape Princess Leia. Keep it classy, Steve. It’s a good thing I remember what’s coming next or I would have stopped this review right here, and it still bugs me.

BW’s Art Soundoff 2016: What’s In A Name?

Before we start I forgot to do something in yesterday’s Jake & Leon due to the limited time I had this weekend. We have some new contributors to the Art Soundoff Challenge added, and I added a couple more last night. Please scroll down the page and welcome Jesse Kaufman, Rob’s wife Kate Stenzinger, the long-awaited return of Eva from Bits Fair, and Eddie “Sketchmazoid” Jensen.

And now today’s Art Soundoff from me, as I look into the importance of how you name your characters. See if you can find the Fraggle Rock reference.
