Ever hear of the movie Robot Jox? It’s a low-budget movie where differences are solved with giant robot battles. Well, here’s a downsized real-life version of this. The creators of a robotic combat vehicle in the US challenged the Japanese creators of a similar “mech suit” to a friendly competition between robots. (Think Battlebots on a larger scale.) Well, the challenge is accepted!

Batman: The Animated Bible> Gotham City Police Department

Batman The Animated Bible logo

ConnectiCon is this week and the only reason I’m doing an article today is that I don’t want to wait two weeks. I’ll be lucky if I have time for a Friday Night Fight. Batman: The Animated Bible will return in two weeks since next week is ConnectiCon footage. So we’ll discuss the supporting cast in two weeks and the villains in three weeks. This week it’s the Gotham City PD.

Had Gotham been about the cops dealing with crazies and only occasionally crossing paths with the Bat crew that would have been fine. They don’t even have to appear on the show, just make it about the police dealing with lesser criminals and show they aren’t helpless without someone in a mask. Instead it’s a prequel showing how all of Batman’s villains, even the ones near his age who are somehow way older now, brought Gotham down or something. I’ll pass.

There is potential as they broke out beyond just being background characters. The show bible lists only three of the cops–Commissioner Gordon (obviously), Harvey Bullock, and original character Renee Montoya…who DC brought in and ruined. I’ll get to her soon enough. Let’s start with the only other character that has been in the franchise from the first issue besides Bruce Wayne and “the Bat-Man”.

The popular Hello Kitty (and I’m assuming her friends) will be debuting in her first (US-produced anyway) feature film. Please tell me this isn’t going to be live-action. Maybe we’ll get in-canon proof as to whether or not she’s a cat. Seriously, this came up.

Jake & Leon #253: Fire Overworked

Based on my actual trip to my cousin's lakeside cabin.

Based on my actual trip to my cousin’s lakeside cabin.

This actually happened. I went to my cousin’s lakeside cabin for Independence Day this year because I had never been to the cabin before. (I usually go to a different cousin’s place for the 4th.) One of the things they told me was how great the fireworks were because they shot off at different places around the lake. But there was no finale; the fireworks just petered out. It was cool at first but underwhelming by the end.

This week (except for Batman: The Animated Bible so it isn’t preempted for TWO weeks) is Filler Videos because I need to prepare for ConnectiCon 2015 and Saturday relaxed me so much that I didn’t get much done today. (It’s actually a good thing that the comic didn’t get done because I wouldn’t have been able to use this gag.) Next week will be photos and video from ConnectiCon, although since I can’t afford a hotel room again I’ll miss some Press Junkets. I’ll record as many as I can, though, plus interviews from the dealer’s area, panels, and cosplayers. Lost of cosplayers. Hope to see some of you there!
