The Changes In The Final Fantasy 7 Story

At least I think that’s what the video is about because I haven’t watched it yet. Now you may be wondering why I’m posting a video I haven’t fully watched yet. I did watch the beginning so I know sort of what the story of Final Fantasy VII is about and I know who Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth, and Tifa are because I’m on the internet and travel in geek circles. However, I have never played the game or watched a play through of the classic video game, one of the most beloved in the Final Fantasy franchise. I have been watching Dan from PlayFrame play the game and I’m experiencing the story for the first time. That’s how I want to experience it and so far I’m enjoying the game. I thus want to save watching the rest of this video until his play through is done.

I also can’t think of a single thing to discuss right about now and I’m up against the clock. My feed is filled with backstage drama, online shenanigans, cancel culture, riots in the name of someone who deserves to be avenged but wouldn’t want to see storefronts of people getting by having their livelihood destroyed after being shut down for months due to the death plague and now will never open again. I’m not getting political (well, maybe that last part because the riots piss me off and I’m not even the one suffering) but my news feed certainly is and I’m afraid to look at my Twitter feed even more than usual. Even the YouTube videos are failing me except for reviews that wouldn’t match up to this site anyway.

So to bring us all something different Austin of Austin Eruption and a member of the Game Theorists with his The Science Of… series compares the two versions of the game to see what’s been added. I know Dan has mentioned some alterations during his play but those of you already spoiled on the story might find this interesting. I know he swears in other videos so maybe he’s swearing here too. I’ll watch it as soon as PlayFrame is done with Dan’s playthrough.

BW’s Daily Teaser Trailer: Bill & Ted Face The Music

Only a teaser, but I see promise.

Finally Watched…Justice League

Let me be clear on everything here. I don’t like the direction Zack Snyder took with the DC universe. Man Of Steel, as I said in my review, was a decent superhero movie but a terrible Superman movie. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was so far removed from what I wanted to see in a Batman/Superman team-up movie that I didn’t want to see it before learning Lex Luthor became the Joker, motivations for the hero fight were questionable, and the plot goes every which way. Then there are the interviews, where Snyder says that if superheroes were real they’d all be killers and to think otherwise is living in a fantasy world. You know, like a MOVIE! Or the COMICS YOUR MOVIE IS BASED ON! So I was not disappointed to learn that Joss Whedon was being brought in to punch up the story a bit. The timing however was terrible as Snyder’s daughter had just died, and from what I heard the end result was a mess as their two styles clashed horribly.

Now comes all this talk about the “Snyder cut”. Fans were demanding this cut for months, sometimes talking about it in social media threads and site comments sections if they could at any level fudge the conversation to allow it. And then did it anyway if they couldn’t. So WarnerMedia, the merger of phone and entertainment stream AT&T and Time Warner, decided completing Snyder’s original vision would be a good boost for HBO Max, their new attempt to join the streaming craze that has hit the entertainment industry without any real thought. Fans were thrilled, but the Warner Brothers side is not because it exposes some of their mistakes in going this route, whatever my personal thoughts on Snyder’s misunderstanding of the DC Universe might be. I’m happy the fans are getting what they want (if only to shut them up) but the access media wants to be on WB’s good side and joined their trashing those demanding a director’s cut of Justice League. With the original on my DVR (via TBS) I figured why not see what the hype or antihype was about. Is the Whedon-ised version of the film really that bad?

BW’s Daily Article Link: The Simpsons Message For The Class Of 2020

One of the victims of the quarantine has been the graduating class of 2020, who haven’t been able to celebrate being set free from the prison that is school. (I maybe projecting a bit there but given what my school experience was can you blame me?) So celebs have been trying to help to make the experience a bit better. Last week I linked to an article about Bill & Ted actors Keannu Reeves and Alex Winter doing something for the San Dimas class of 2020. On a bit of a broader scope YouTube did a series of videos with messages for the class of 2020. /Film links to a few of those at the end of the article but the fun thing here is a clip featuring the Simpsons (mostly Lisa) giving their own commencement speech to the class of 2020.

Just wish we weren’t sending you out to this dumpster fire of a year. Hopefully the class of 2021 has better luck.

Chapter By Chapter> Spider-Man: Carnage In New York ch 19

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

It’s the last two chapters of the book, so I think we can assume the fight ends here and the epilogue comes next chapter. When we last left the book a very angry Carnage was lunging at Spider-Man. Let’s see how it all turns out.

How much you want to bet we just got a spoiler here? Also, something something shocking yada yada.
