After Raphael takes sparring practice a bit too far and nearly kills Michelangelo, Raph goes to cool off and runs across Casey Jones, who lacks even Raph’s self-control when it comes to fighting crooks. After coming to blows more than once, Casey and Raphael end up bonding.
This was the first of the stories giving focus to individual Turtles. It’s also the introduction of Casey Jones, who would become one of the Turtles’ strongest allies. It’s interesting to know this and think about how the original cartoon pretty much ignored him yet made the Shredder, a villain who dies in the first issue, the Turtles’ biggest foe.
Otherwise, this is an interesting story seeing the early days of Casey and the formation of his friendship with Raphael. The colors support the art well. Very recommended.
