LETTERER: John Workman ASSISTANT EDITOR: Vincent Lovallo EDITOR: Paul Kaminski “Legacies” part two, “Inheritance” WRITER: Ian Flynn PENCILER: Alitha Martinez INKER: Gary Martin COLORIST: Matt Herms “Legacy of the Crusaders”: The Comet in “Yesterday’s Gone WRITER: Chuck Dixon PENCILER: Ken Hooper INKER: Rick Bryant COLORIST: Thomas Mason
The New Crusaders may be over before they began, since everyone except the new Fly-Girl is either freaked out or unconscious. But if they can pull together, they better do it fast, because the Brain Emperor is making his next move.
In the back-up story, the Comet remembers his past and why he put the outfit away.
What they got right: I do like how the kids had to decide if they were worthy or fight for their powers. Or in Ivette’s case both. The new costumes are reminiscent of their parents’ and mentors but have a style all their own. The back-up shows a nice father/son moment.
What they got wrong: Still, I would have preferred to see the Comet in a regular story, like Fly-Girl last issue. Also, Brain Emperor seems to be testing the limits of “all-ages”. Last issue we had a guy bleeding to death out of his eyes. This time we have prison guards shooting each other and then jumping out of the guard tower to their death.
Recommendation: If you or your kids can handle that last part, this is a good tale of legacy superheroes, proving to the Big Two that it can be done. Seek this comic out.
