Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #22
IDW Publishing (May, 2013)
“City Fall” part 1 STORY: Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz SCRIPT: Tom Waltz ARTIST: Mateus Santolouco SELECTED COVER ARTIST: Kevin Eastman COLORIST: Ronda Pattison LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Bobby Curnow
The Savate’s new leader is still trying to take over the Foot’s turf, and that doesn’t sit well with Shredder. It’s time to take the fight to them, but first he has Casey kidnapped to lure out Leonardo, who you may recall from previous issues he wants to make his new general.
What they got right: If we’re using martial arts groups as a replacement for the mobs, this is an interesting idea. The fights are well done.
What they got wrong: All the trouble to bring Kitsune back and she does pretty much nothing here. And maybe I just didn’t notice it before in this comic, but is Shredder wearing a regular fabric mask instead of the usual faceplate?
Recommendation: Things are heating up and this may be a good issue to start reading on. You won’t get the history but there looks to be some good action coming up.
