Sadly, I missed #5. I hope someday to get it.
Batman ’66 Meets The Green Hornet #6
FINAL ISSUE
DC Comics/Dynamite (January, 2015)
“The End Of Crime’s Tether” WRITERS: Kevin Smith & Ralph Carman ARTIST: Ty Templeton COLORIST: Tony Avina COVER ART: Alex Ross LETTERER: Wes Abbott ASSISTANT EDITOR: Aniz Ansari SENIOR EDITOR: Jim Chadwick
Apparently Green Hornet found a way to form a proper team-up with Batman and Robin through Scanlon. The issue starts with a bomb being dropped near them, but it actually spills out postage stamps, which leads to their next clue. As the quartet deal with a kidnapping a slip of the tongue leads to the true crime being committed.
What they got right: It’s too bad this wasn’t an episode, as neither show lasted long enough for a second team-up. The art was good, the only character designs that were heavily altered (due to rights concerns) were Gumm and Commissioner Gordon, and the “voices” matched perfectly. I also liked Kato’s reactions to working with the…quirks of the Dynamic Duo.
What they got wrong: There was a typo in a balloon. That’s all I’ve got.
Recommendation: I would love to get the issue I’m missing but together this was a great team-up and one you should look up if you like a fun Batman story or if you were a fan of either TV show.
