Metal Guardian Faust #6
Viz Comics (1997)
originally published by Shogakukan, Inc“Revelations” WRITER/ARTIST: Tesuro Ueyama ADAPTATION: Matt Thorn TOUCH-UP ART/LETTERER: Mary Kelleher COVER DESIGN: Viz Graphics EDITOR: Annette Roman
Donner screws up Blitz’s trap for Faust by attacking the hero. Donner launches more attacks based on the trumpets from the book of Revelation and Faust has to play dead to figure out how to get past them. He overhears Blitz talking about having to stun Rushiha and wanting to play with her and this gets him mad. He takes out Donner in part by tossing Blitz at him when he fires. With Donner taken away by Cupid the power returns to the city and Faust gets away with his charge. However, Blitz isn’t as deactivated as everyone thinks.
What they got right: I kind of like how the two bad bots don’t get along or coordinate plans. It was a good way for Faust to avoid the trap that we didn’t see coming.
What they got wrong: I thought there would be more secrets about Faust, the mystery woman, or Angel’s obsession with being human…something about the mysteries in this story. Instead the title is either misleading or referring to the source of the names for Donner’s attack, which is kind of lame if that’s the case.
Recommendation: I’m still enjoying this series and still recommending it.
