Remember when I used to review the Super Bowl ads? The last three years I had reasons why I didn’t, and only two of them were personal tragedies. I was going to do a team-up with Test Zero, one of my fellow Reviewers Unknown members, but that fell through due to not being able to co-ordinate a schedule. But frankly the ads aren’t as fun as they were. They’ve been mostly basic compared to regular ads with no real standouts.
Not that it matters according to video game and movie/TV theorist MatPat. In the latest episode of Film Theory, Matthew Patrick looks into whether or not the Super Bowl ads are even worth being sweated over by advertisers at all. You may be surprised at the answer and the alternative.
You can catch more of MatPat and the other Film Theorists on their YouTube channel. I didn’t plan to have so many videos this week, but that’s what happened.
