On Arus Coran tries to console Sven, but he’s starting to have some odd dreams. Back on Earth the Lions come to life to aid their pilots in escaping from Galaxy Garrison, but the Vehicle Voltron Force chases after them, and the two Voltrons do battle before the Lion Force can make their escape. Meanwhile, Hawkins learns that the man who ordered the Lions captured and reverse-engineered them to create the vehicles is actually a Drule sympathizer and this was all a plot to steal Voltron without causing a galactic incident.
What they got right: There’s a nod to how Pidge and Chip resemble each other, although the comic didn’t last long enough for us to find out if they were brothers like in the show. (The US version anyway, as GoLion and DaiRugger are not connected.) The fight between the Voltrons is short but they do show off Vehicle Voltron’s abilities well enough for their fans.
What they got wrong: What does Allura need to discuss with Keith? Even if there’s a mild attraction their romance didn’t develop here the way it did on the show, and Keith is still dealing with the death of his fiancé, which is why he was on this mission in the first place. Just because they ended up as a couple on the original series (which we saw no evidence of during The Third Dimension or Voltron Force, at least the episodes of the latter I saw) doesn’t mean they have to be one here. They aren’t a couple in Legendary Defender last I heard. Also I am so over hero versus hero fights even before Marvel became almost entirely that recently.
Recommendation: Really, why aren’t you tracking this series down yet?
