Big name directors, TV celebrities, comic book editors, and even internet personalities have been really showing us a darker side. The latest is the continually worsening fallout from Channel Awesome that has led to more revelations than mismanagement, including allegations of harassment both sexual and otherwise, by people I’ve promoted on this site before learning what they really were. That news can often send someone off a positive path or destroy a positive message they were sending. But it shouldn’t. Just because they didn’t live up to their own talk doesn’t mean what we thought they were was wrong. Just that they didn’t live up to them. Don’t give up your dreams just because your heroes prove to be false. I can understand re-examining what you thought you wanted to do with your life, and that can put you off a bad path, but if what you were pursuing was a positive for your life, keep at it. Don’t give up your dreams because others turned out to be horrible people. The reason they inspired you hasn’t changed, just that they didn’t live up to it.
Over at The Clutter Reports I decided to clean up my Twitter feed and Amazon wishlists. It’s all I had time to do last week.
My friend Sean got me the next two issues of Titan’s Robotech, and this may be their last chance to impress me enough to continue on with it. I haven’t connected with this new take, and with every other version I’ve seen finding ways to tell new stories without altering what made the show good I’m not sure they needed a new take. Also Casablanca is airing on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) on Wednesday night (8 PM ET). It’s one of the movies on my Finally Watched want list because it is such a huge classic so you may get that article on Thursday. I’ve seen plenty of homages but not the movie itself so that’s long overdue. And I’m hoping to do work on the Captain Yuletide story bible and the last panel from ConnectiCon 2016 but we’ll see if those happen. Here’s hoping for a creative week because I’m losing time again next week.
