Here’s something a bit different tonight. It’s already late but I wanted something for Saturday Night Showcase. Double Dare wasn’t the first kids game show but it certainly revitalized the concept and gave Nickelodeon their first home-created hit. The show was messy and fun to both play and watch. There have been numerous versions of the series with various hosts, the original being Mark Summers, who went on to produce shows like Restaurant Impossible and returned as announcer of the most recent version of the series.

Because of how important the whole franchise is to Nickelodeon history, The Pop Arena opted not to simply review the one version in it’s opening year, which is how Greg tackles other shows for Nick Knacks, his show-by-show retrospective of the Nickelodeon schedule from creation to today. Instead he looked at all of the variations of Double Dare over the years and tonight I bring you that video. Enjoy.
