With Eggman in jail due to events in the show, Sonic is bored. A bored Sonic is not a happy Sonic. While he manages to find a little relief helping out the Speed Team, Tails is brought in by Westwood to examine the alien ship from issue #7, which he managed to dig up. However, the ship goes automatic, taking Tails and Westwood with it as it attacks the city. With a little ingenuity and help from the Speed Team Sonic manages to bring the ship down again.
What they got right: Sonic shows his smart side, which he doesn’t get to do very often with the focus on his speed most of the time. This mystery with the alien ship might actually benefit the comic since the Eggman plots have been kind of lame in this series, at least in comic form.
What they got wrong: Westwood continues to be annoying. Sam seems to have gotten over his jealousy, at least in this story, but Westwood is a bit too into revenge for one of the supposed good guys.
What I think overall: This was actually a good story, which I haven’t seen many of from this series. Maybe Edkin is finally hitting his stride and the comic’s finally turning around?
