The comic is ten pages, previewing the “Amazing Universe”, but it’s enough to get an idea of what the full comic might be like and there’s other stuff in there as well introducing this new shared universe. So it’s at least enough to do a review for.
Dominion is promoted as an upgrade to Marvel’s “Alpha Flight”, a new superhero team protecting Canada after some incident (block out even in text) that led to a huge mistake by the third group of the US’s “Strikeforce” superhero team. Strikeforce Three used to help out Canada until they were disbanded after the [REDACTED] Incident. (That got kind of old because it looks weird as a presentation in dialog. A group of officers for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service manages to take down Asher Jessup, a “failed experiment” of Strikeforce that had been captured and brainwashed by the terrorist group Helix to become Black Razor. He seems to have shown up in Canada not wanting to return to Helix, so CSIS agent Jean-Pascal Raison to invite him to join the new Canadian superhero team, the Dominion.
What follows in the preview book is the script for this sequence, which is interesting for someone interested in the making of comics (hi) but not for most other people, I wouldn’t imagine. I could be wrong. There are also previews for their other titles. The comic itself is a good preview, introducing the concept of the Dominion and the events that led up to the comic. There’s also some action as the officers take the former villain down, though it’s mostly him running and being hit with tranquilizers. Everything you need to know to follow this event and what it might lead to appear to be here. The other previews are promo articles with some questionable grammar mistakes but you get the idea of what they’re about.
Overall it’s a good presentation and introduction. I hope this push does well for them if they’re still around. I might want to check out a full story in the future of Dominion at least, which seems an odd name for a superhero team, but I’m not Canadian.
