Chapter By Chapter> Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire ch. 31

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Chapter By Chapter Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire

In our last installment Luke and Lando snuck onto the Imperial homeworld to rescue Leia, which is what Xizor had planned to happen. Our heroes are going to meet one of Lando’s contacts. Let’s see how that goes?

BW’s Art Soundoff 2016 #18: Creating Jake

In a special series of Art Soundoff Challenge videos this week I’ll be showing how I created the characters for Jake & Leon and what their place is in the comic. It seem only right for a challenge about discussing your art. Of course we’re starting with Jake. Tomorrow is Leon, the rest of the week will be our family of Beth, Meredith, and Bill, and I’m trying to decide if I’ll do two extra videos (possibly to make up for the two I missed) or just do Max and Fizzbin next week. Enjoy.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> Zero Hour: Crisis In Time #2

I’m missing number 3 but I did look up a summary on DC Database to catch up.

Jake & Leon #296: Obligatory Black Friday Gag

At least the rally can claim more worth than "let's forget what Christmas is because jeans are on sale.

At least the rally can claim more worth than “let’s forget what Christmas is because jeans are on sale.

I don’t have a problem with protests. It’s one of the good things about this country of ours, whether I agree with them or not. I do have a problem with riots that lead to destroyed and looted businesses, innocent people hurt, and so much trouble that it may even hurt their cause if not just ruin other people’s days. However, I’ll take it over Black Friday. Those shoppers are just selfish jerks with no respect for anyone…because they want to get a toy on sale. By the way, congratulations to the stores that stayed closed on Thanksgiving (except for grocery stores and convenience stores…they kind of have to stay open for at least part of the day) because you let your employees spend Thanksgiving with their families. They need that moral support for Friday.

Over at The Clutter Reports I finally tried on pants to see if they would fit considering how my body went through this year, including losing too much weight and other physical changes. Next week is Christmas decorating but I still have jeans and shirts to go through. Not much to report on the review front. I’ll get to the Transformers comics I missed in the usual Thursday spot. However, for Art Soundoff this week I’m going to go over the creations of the various Jake & Leon characters. Hope you all enjoy that, or at least find it interesting.

Saturday Night Showcase: The Pumaman, MST3K Style

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie

Darn it, Space Mutiny is my favorite but the official channel doesn’t have it up yet.

Oh well, I do like The Pumaman as well, so that works. During Thanksgiving, Mystery Science Theater 3000 held their annual “Turkey Day Marathon”. The tradition was started during their time on Comedy Central, and was picked up a few years ago by Shout Factory’s YouTube channel and live-streaming service Pluto TV, which carries the series on one of it’s channels. (Pluto operates like a cable or satellite network, getting various streaming shows from the internet and running them like regular TV channels.) For the Kickstarter for the brand new season that will air on Netflix (which as you may recall I don’t have and am getting more and more frustrated with that since Netflix seems to be designed to torture me) a poll was set up for the top six MST3K episodes, and #6, right at the bottom, was a superhero movie from Italy about a newbie superhero who has to rescue a mask owned by space gods that he’s descended from and rescue his girlfriend. It’s mediocre but fun.

On Shout Factory TV they DO have Space Mutiny and no way to embed it here. But Pumaman and his allegedly possibly Aztec friend is as good as any. This is also annotated so if you don’t get a joke, don’t worry. Just turn annotations on and they’ll solve that problem for you. Or turn them off to just watch the movie without multi-colored pop-ups. I wonder if this movie inspired The Greatest American Hero with how poorly Tony flies as Pumaman? Just click the gear on the bottom of the player. Enjoy.
